New Theme: Spring 08

Apr 08, 2008 • Web

Science Daily published an article extracted from a joint study by Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, USA and the University of Waterloo, Canada.1 The researchers found that participants who viewed the Apple logo were rated as more creative vs. participants exposed to the IBM logo. In other words, brands may stimulate you.

I have a sleek, black MacBook. I have an iPod. I am an Adobe addict. I have a rather fantastic creative workspace that should stimulate my creative side…except it failed for 2 weeks.

This is the new theme. It’s not what the first drawing looked like (there’s about 5 pages of paper used up with doodles) and there’s still some tweaking to be done. But rather than keep bashing myself up over it, I decided to settle for this and publish it before spring entirely disappears on me. The only problem so far is that some of the images might not be positioned right but I’m working on that. Thankfully, I have only a few posts to get through.

That having been said, any thoughts or suggestions?

The grey section at the bottom doesn’t extend all the way.
Neither does your footer, namely the “CSS may not be reused without permission” part.

Did you set your ’s correctly?

Aside from the few visual errors, it’s nice! :D I was a bit confused at first with how the entry system was set up. It might be more intuitive to switch the positions of ‘Recent Posts’ and ‘Random Posts’

Best of luck!(:

Hmm…what browser are you using? I’ve tested this on Firefox 2 and IE 6 and the gray areas extend all the way.

Thanks! I might switch the Recent and Random…still working on things. It’s the first time I’ve broken out of the 3 columns standard.

Novel as it seems, I’m stubborn and probably won’t break out of the 3 column standard anytime soon. xDD

Yes, I’m using Firefox 2 (Works fine on IE6 for some reason) and this is what I’m seeing:

Having the same prob like Nagato as well. The grey area does not extend all the way. Other than that, it’s all dandy ^^.

Oh yeah, I’m using Firefox 2 as well.

That’s for the screenshot and feedback! I think I have it. I’ve been using em to control the font sizes and px for the height. I’ve changed all of them to ems now…please tell me if this clears up the problem. ^_^

Works like a charm (^_^). No prob for me.

That did it! :)
If you didn’t know, you can also use php to change stylesheets based on what browser the user is using. I needed to do that for mine since IE’s standards don’t match any other browser’s =_=

I like it ^_^ Looks really nice.

The only thing I’ll mention is the fact that the Flickrstream on the bottom only shows 8 when it seems like it can fit 9. You might wanna center it or something; looks odd with more space on the right than the left.

@Nagato: Yeah, I know, but I hate making exceptions. I figure if it doesn’t work for IE, Firefox, and Opera, then it’s not a good style and I should go back and fix it.

@IcyStorm: Hmm, mine shows up 9. I think I’ve set it to overflow:hidden and with the spacing and all, it shows up weird. I’ll fix that when I get back but right now, work time. x.x

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. ^_^
