Pocky Marble Rum Raisin

Overview

I meant to get this up with its complimentary flavor, Caramel Chocolate, but the white chocolate was a deterrent. A really strong deterrent. It’s hard to describe how much I hate white chocolate but I would rather eat carob sweets than white chocolate. But here it is, April, and the Valentine’s Day flavor is still on some shelves, so I figured I should just bite the bullet and try it.

The Product Examined

On skimming through the ingredient list, the white is actually not white chocolate. My guess is that it’s “rum raisin paste”, which may contain white chocolate but it’s been so disguised that it doesn’t taste like plastic! This should teach me something about judging a food product with eyes only (except then the food photography industry would have failed in their mission).

On first taste, my thoughts were of O’Mara’s Irish Country Cream1 but soon after, the taste of rum raisin appeared. It’s not very strong nor does it come in small bursts, like Haagen-Dazs’ Rum Raisin ice cream, but it’s still quite enjoyable.

My Rating: ★★★★½

  1. Even though I am genetically not related to Pat O’Mara, it’s still pretty cool to have the family name on something []

What is ‘rum’ supposed to taste like? I’m very adverse to anything even mildly alcoholic.

I’m not sure how to describe rum, Nagato, but it doesn’t have the bitter, nasty black marker kind of sting to it. It’s rather sweet.
