Pizza Hut Japan

I know that many people want to have authentic foods during their Japan vacation and not waste time eating familiar US foods (this is from a US perspective). However, Japanese pizza is generally a strange hybridization, an east meets west conglomeration of flavors. Or everything meets mayonnaise that’s been piled on thick like butter cream frosting. Regardless, it’s a unique taste experience and one worth having.

This is the Pizza Hut menu at the time of writing. It’s organized alphabetically, except for the sets which are grouped separately.

Regular Pizzas

Bacon Mushroom
Bacon, mushrooms, and black pepper

Barbeque Chicken
Onion, mushrooms, and BBQ’ed chicken

Carbonara
Bacon, egg spread, and black pepper

Cheese & Cheese
Italian tomatoes, onion, and basil

Crab and Shrimp, Mayo King
Large shrimp, fake crab, corn, onion, broccoli, and mayonnaise

Deluxe
Pepperoni salami, bacon, green peppers, and onion

Gomadare Pork
Burdock root mix (burdock and carrots), sesame sauce pork, shredded seaweed, and sesame sauce

Idaho Special
Diced potatoes, bacon, onion, corn, parsley, black pepper, and mayonnaise

Mayo Q
Mayonnaise, BBQ’ed chicken, shredded seaweed, corn, mushrooms, and onion

Meat Paradise
Pepperoni salami, ham, pork, beef, and bacon

Mochi, Mentai, and Potato
Large shrimp, diced potatoes, Korean mochi, corn, onion, mayonnaise, shredded seaweed, and fish roe sauce

Pizza Hut Gourmet
Green peppers, ham, bacon, onion, basil, mushrooms, bacon bits, black pepper, sliced tomatoes, Italian sausage, and garlic chips

Seafood Mix
Large shrimp, squid, tuna and mayonnaise, broccoli, and onion

Sicilian Style Pizza
Tuna, mushrooms, parsley, and special meat sauce

Super Korean Purukogi
Bulgogi (Korean BBQ), garlic sprounts, onion, shredded red pepper, and mayonnaise

Tar-tar Chicken Nanban
Nanban chicken¹, red peppers, parsley, tartar sauce, and Nanban sauce

Tuna Mild
Tuna, bacon, corn, onion, and mayonnaise

Combination Pizzas

Family Four
Tuna Mild, Super Korean Purukogi, Cheese & Cheese, and Deluxe

Gorgeous Four
Barbeque Chicken, Sicilian Style Pizza, Seafood Pizza, Pizza Hut Gourmet

Select Four
Idaho Special, Meat Paradise, Shrimp and Bacon, and Mayo Q

Smile Four Set
Egg spread, parsley, mayonnaise, large shrimp, corn, BBQ chicken, potato (diced), bacon, mushrooms, and tuna and mayonnaise

@Scott: Yeah, the seafood pizza is terrific and a lot better than the stuff I’ve had in the US!

@double: Possibly, but not on the pizzas themselves. I have no idea what the box packaging looks like at the moment.

@issa-sa: I’m envious…the nearest Pizza Hut is about 2 hours away.

@biankita: The mayonnaise isn’t so bad. I actually like those pizzas now. ^_^

Care to shed some light as to why Pizza Hut in Japan is delivery only? When I was in Tokyo, I couldn’t even spot a single outlet; only to realize it was never their intention to become a dine in eatery.

@Shin: I think it’s just the business model they decided to do here. The space required for a sit down restaurant would require a lot of money from the start and maybe they didn’t want to sink a lot into a then-risky venture? Now, it’s a trademark of sorts.
