Blogging Change - Less is More
Jul 12, 2008 • Anime
Between the post made by usagijen @ The Scrumptious Anime Blog, some Twittering with more established bloggers, and some IM conversations with others familiar with websites, I’ve come to the conclusion that this blog is running away from me. More specifically, it’s becoming dominated by anime and while I have entertained the idea of becoming a complete anime blog, I ultimately don’t think it’s the right direction. If I’m putting my name to this site, shouldn’t it be a better reflection of me?
This is not to say I’m turning my back on anime or even the other anime bloggers I have come to know. Anime shows are important to me as an entertainment source - I often find I prefer the animated medium because of the flexibility it gives the show. But I would like to contain it more to make sure my other interests have room here. I was rather proud of the fact that June 2008 was almost non-stop blogging - for a starter like me, a question on my mind is whether I can continue to provide content for this blog and have it be worthwhile. Having proved that, I believe it’s now time to scale it down and bring it back.
Rather than do episode summaries/reviews, I’m going to bring them all under a “weekly recap” post. The format will be 1 screen shot, 1 paragraph opinion. I think that’s all 30 minutes of entertainment deserves.

Nice, fewer posts for me to catch up on the blogosphere with. I’ve been out of the loop for the past month.
Just do what you’re comfortable with, I’ll be rooting for you. (:
@usagijen: Great minds think alike!
@Icy: Yes! You should post more. :(
@double: The food posts will never be eliminated. ^_^
@Hynavian: Thanks. ^_^
You must definitely keep up with the ice-cream. When are you gonna blog about bunny stew?
why bother about whether the content is about something else you didn’t intended it to be?
anyway for the most bloggers like ourselves, we don’t earn money from writting, we just have a blog because we want to.
So wouldn’t it be better to write whatever you fancy? Relax about the content :D
@blissmo: *L* Unfortunately, I don’t want to try bunny stew so it’ll be a long time coming, if ever.
@Shin: I’m working on those! Just translating a bunch of stuff now.
@pp: I worry a little because this has my name on it. Potential employers might Google me and see and I’d rather have them find a more well-rounded version of me. If I were blogging anonymously, it’d be completely different.
Food posts!
I think I’ll try the bite sized posts this season, though you’re right about anonymity allowing a blogger to post just about whatever he/she wants whenever he/she feels like it.
The other thing to do if you want to write about anime more often without diluting your personal blog is to become a writer at a team blog. Then you can have your weekly reviews on your own personal blog and perhaps cover other series more often at the team blog (without having to set up a whole anime blog yourself).
@Kabitzin: I thought about a team blog but just from watching developments on them make me think twice. I can play nice with others but only if the others have, well, manners. x.x
I totally get how anime and manga can take over a blog. If you don’t mind the overshare, I took the opposite route from yours ^^ In the end my personal blog became an anime blog (though there’s really more manga than anime ^^;). But we blog b/c we want to and if inspiration comes from something other then anime, then why not?
Thanks for the comment on my template post! ^^

Yea, categories and tags are for that purpose :) I enjoy the non-anime/manga stuff here as well.

…and I’m just about to do the very same thing. Weekly digests FTWww XD
