Calbee’s Seafood Jagariko
Aug 18 2008 • Snacks
When it comes to potato snacks, I generally stick to chips. However, I received Calbee’s Seafood Jagariko from my host mother, who swears I don’t eat enough. 1

Overview
At first, I was kind of wary…”seafood” is a hit-or-miss flavor for me because it ranges in intensity. Some seafood flavored products are almost as strong as eating dried squid, others are very weak and taste more like salt than anything else.
Impressions
The potato sticks are lighter and airier than regular potato chips. This is partly because they’re hollow inside and not solid potato - the texture is something more like Cheetos. The seafood flavor is nothing stronger than a tuna sandwich and not very salty. It actually reminds me a lot of Herr’s Old Bay seasoning potato chips. Although I am a fan of the flavor, I can’t say I’m a fan of the grease - 1 stick probably has more grease than 1 potato chip. I had to eat these with a tissue by my side to keep wiping away the accumulated oil.

An eye opener! O_o I didn’t know that there was seafood flavor. I always thought that potato sticks should taste like potato chips. I’m not a fan of snacks (no, not because of the calories) but because they taste artificial. Real potatoes taste nicer and yummier. (:
Has this snack become one of your favorites?
Sounds like grease in a cup XD I’ve yet to try these potato sticks since for the same price I can get more junk food ‘goodness’ from regular tried and tested chips… Hearing that they’re hollow makes me less of a potential fan.
@Hynavian: Hell yea, real potatoes rock!
@Shin: This flavor may also not be exported?
@Hynavian: It’s not one of my favorites - too much grease. But I did find the seafood taste to be good. If they can just get that on a regular potato chip, I’d be happy (and fatter)!
@issa-sa: I think it’s worth trying but I’m kind of a food junkie. I should also be a gym junkie too. T-T

Hard to find these here, since it’s only available at certain speciality food outlets. Either that or I don’t go out shopping enough. That said, I still prefer the good old crinkle cut potato chips though. :Q~~~
