Pocky Crush: Bitter Crunch
Oct 08 2008 • Snacks

Overview
There really haven’t been a lot of new flavors in my local grocery - just large packages of Almond and Bitter Crunch that are more suited for groups of friends. It’s not like unopened Pocky goes bad quickly but I’m still adverse to buying that much at a time. However, after debating on whether or not I should start eating Pretz, a non-chocolate snack, I decided to just buy the Pocky and eat it slowly over a month.
The Product Examined
The “bitter crunch” refers to pieces of dark chocolate cookie, like the stuff used in Oreos. It’s quite nice in flavor and not inclined to get stuck in your teeth like the almond version. The Pocky is very strong in chocolate flavor, but not in a sugary, Duncan Hines frosting kind of way. If they sold the stuff in regular 3-4 packs per box, I’d definitely get it again but at 6 packs, that’s kind of a lot in one go. I like to jump around flavors.1

Pocky? Bitter chocolate? DO wanttt!!! Lemme see if I can get my officemate to get this for me D: Thanks for the heads up!!
yummy… love dark chocolate. pocky only comes in two flavors here in the phils. -_- unless i’ve been looking at the wrong places.
A month? maybe a week but a month?
they sound pretty good
here in europe we only have mikado and they are in dark or milk choclate flavor.
6! wow, yea I’ve passed these up in the local market the last few times, but I should give them a go, since it is one of the 3 Pocky types they have in stock :/
^_^ Bitter hehe
Bitter crunch. Sounds like something that would make me manlier if I devour an entire box of them.
@Panther & Blowfish: I’m actually not a huge desserts fan. I love how it all looks but I’d rather eat fruit. I’m also not a big snacker.
@usagijen: I think that some fall/winter Pocky are about to come out soon so if your friend can grab a box and hold it for a couple weeks, you could get a huge Pocky shipment.
@issa-sa: You can run out and get some! :P Also, if you can make it to 31 this month, their Halloween flavors are awesome.
@Ryan A: Definitely try them. I’m guessing you have chocolate, strawberry, and this one? This is the best, out of those 3.
@Shin: Manly men only eat Men’s Pocky. :P
Chocolate gets boring which is why I always go strawberry. That’s the real men’s pocky. ;)
I really wouldn’t be surprised if Men’s Pocky appeals more to women with all that dark chocolate though…
Oreos you say? I’d definitely want to try this flavor. All we have here aside from traditional and Strawberry are Men’s Pocky, which I have no clue what it is because it doesn’t taste all too different from traditional.
I agree with you about buying it in such a large quantity; I like variety as well. Still, it definitely sounds worth a try.
@Yamcha: I’m not sure on the sales but I know I love dark chocolate far more. Milk chocolate just tastes kind of plasticky for me.
@Nagato: There’s an idea that men only like bitter chocolate. There’s this kind of cultural belief that men don’t like sweet things, so subtle or bland tasting (to us anyway) desserts are for them.
@blissmo: That sounds like a great idea. I have 1 package left so I think that’s how I’ll eat them. ^_^
mmmmmmm Looks delicious. We have the Pretz and Pocky brands over here but not that particular type. I should buy a crate full or something.
